On February 16, by the central enterprise in E Zhou Province, China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group Co., Ltd. to build the equivalent to 760 adult African elephant weight, 31 standard basketball court size of the domestic "sea giant float" arrived in the Xihoumen waterway, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province of East China Sea. The 7600-ton, 13,000-square-meter flat size of the self-floating drilling platform will support the drilling and piling at sea, as in flatland operations, the first time in the history of bridge construction in the world.

The construction of Xihoumen rail-cum-road Bridge is a common cross-sea Bridge of Zhejiang Yongzhou Railway and Yongzhou expressway multiple track across Xihoumen waterway. This Bridge connects Zhoushan Jintang Island and?Cezi Island, is a key control project of Yongzhou Railway.

The main span of the bridge is designed to be 1488 meters, which is the largest span of cable-stayed-suspension collaborative system bridge under construction in the world. The bridge will create four world's best: the world's largest span rail-cum-road bridge, the world's widest bridge of the same type, the world's largest pile diameter bridge bored pile foundation and the first application of cable-stayed suspension collaboration in a high-speed railroad bridge in the world.
